How to Treat Your Skin Right During Cold Season

Winter is always that time of the year when our skin needs a lot more attention than it used to receive. It is super easy to get dry skin during winter and also to treat your skin in all the wrong ways. But do not worry anymore – below you will find a few easy, effective and skin-friendly tips that will help you treat your beloved skin right during this winter. Here’s how.

Ways to Treat Your Skin Right During Cold Season

1. Consult a Specialist

Well, first things should be first. If you want to help you skin, you should firstly meet an expert who will determine the problems your skin has and choose the right treatment for you. In fact, to meet a good specialist, you don’t even need to go that far – I believe that in your local drug store there are some professional skin care experts you can get some pieces of advice from. But, of course, visiting an esthetician or dermatologist is always better although that might result in a few bills afterward.

2. Moisture Double

If you are using the same type of products like you used during summer or fall and still have dry skin or other problems, you are making a huge mistake. In winter, you need to double your moisturizing routines and also invest in a specially designed skin care product for the cold season.

So, first of all, find an “ointment” moisturizer that is oil-based, and better stay away from water-based moisturizers. These moisturizers are easy to find at many department stores, and some of them can be purchased a lot cheaper too (for example, with some of these JCPenney deals and promo codes). Oils will create a protective layer on your skin that preserves more moisture than an ordinary cream or lotion – so it is a lot better to treat your skin this way.

Also, use moisturizer, at least, two times a day. In the morning after the shower and another time before going to bed. This way you will truly moisturize enough for and will be a lot closer to perfect skin.

3. Wear Socks or Even Gloves During Night

To help your hands and feet life through cold season better, you can use this simple, but a super effective trick that won’t cost you anything at all. All you must do in this case is to dampen your hands and feet, slather on a moisturizer that works best for you and wear cotton socks and gloves, then go to bed with them on. Socks and gloves will help the cream penetrate more efficiently as well as blocking evaporation, so your skin will absorb everything even easier, and you will see the good results more quickly as well.

4. Use Sunscreen

Yes, you heard it right. Sunscreens are not just for summer, in fact, the sun can do more damage to your skin during winter than during summer and the only way to protect yourself from it is to use a sunscreen. With the snow glare, sunlight in winter can still wreck havoc on your skin. What you should do is to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen 30 minutes prior to going outside on your hands and face, to prevent damage from ultraviolet radiation.

5. Hydrate from the Outside

If you want to have a beautiful skin during winter, you should also never forget to hydrate yourself from the outside as well. Drinking a few glasses of room temperature water will not only increase a level of water in your skin but can also work magically well on other aspects of your life. For example, you will feel much fuller instantly if you drink one glass of water before every meal. So drink water more, eat healthy as well, and you will increase your health and beauty for sure.

6. Limit Your Hot Bath Time

I do believe that there is nothing more relaxing during winter days than a hot tub. But by doing that, you are harming your skin more than helping it. Every time you take a batch you are removing natural protecting oils from your skin that all results in dry skin after. So if you wish to have normally hydrated skin, ban your time in hot baths and limit your showering time as well up to 10 min a day. You will still be clean, and your skin will be able to protect itself a little bit as well.
